Short notice
Emergency Hood Cleaning in Charlotte, NC
Some cleanings cannot wait for the next planned date — an inspection has been scheduled, a check came back with findings, or the system has visibly reached a state nobody wants to cook under. Short-notice service handles those, with the same scope and the same documentation.
- Inspection-driven and short-notice visits
- Full exhaust path, not a surface clean
- Dated photographic record on completion
- Honest date, not an optimistic one

Emergency work is the same job done under time pressure, and that is exactly why the scope should not shrink. A rushed visit that cleans the canopy and leaves the duct and fan loaded produces a shiny hood and an unchanged fire risk — and a record that will not stand up to a second look.
When short-notice cleaning is warranted
- An inspection or insurance review has been scheduled with little lead time
- An inspection returned findings on grease accumulation
- Grease is visibly dripping from the canopy or the filter track onto the line
- Exhaust volume has dropped far enough that the kitchen is filling with heat and smoke
- Grease is running from the rooftop fan base onto the roof membrane
- A new operator has taken over a kitchen with no service history at all
Several of these show up before anyone thinks of them as urgent. The warning signs guide covers what to watch for while there is still time to schedule normally.
What happens on an urgent visit
- The system is assessed and the honest scope described before work begins
- The kitchen, cooking equipment and floor routes are protected
- The full grease-bearing path is cleaned — canopy, filters, plenum, accessible duct and fan
- Anything that cannot be reached is photographed and written down, not skipped quietly
- The kitchen is returned to service condition and the record is issued
What emergency cleaning cannot do
It cannot certify a kitchen, guarantee an inspection outcome, or resolve findings that are not about grease. Access openings, duct construction, airflow and fire suppression are separate matters — suppression in particular belongs to a licensed suppression contractor. What a cleaning does is remove the accumulation and prove, with dated evidence, that it was removed. See NFPA 96 hood cleaning for how the standard and documentation fit together.
Getting off the emergency cycle
Almost every urgent call traces back to a missing interval. Once the system has been reset, the useful next step is a recurring schedule set on the grease load the visit actually found — which is both cheaper per visit and far less disruptive than repeating this. Cost drivers are broken down on the hood cleaning cost page.
Frequently asked questions
How quickly can a short-notice cleaning happen?
It depends on current scheduling and on access — a kitchen with straightforward rooftop access is far easier to fit in than one needing building-management coordination. Send the details with your request and you will get a realistic date rather than an optimistic one.
We failed an inspection. Will a cleaning fix it?
A thorough cleaning with proper documentation addresses grease accumulation, which is the most common finding. It does not resolve findings about construction, access openings, airflow or fire suppression, and no cleaning company can guarantee an inspection outcome. Work through the written findings with your inspector.
Can you clean a system after a grease fire?
Not before the fire authority has released the system and any suppression discharge has been dealt with by a licensed suppression contractor. Once the system is cleared for work, post-incident cleaning and documentation can be scheduled.
Is short-notice work more expensive?
Often, for two honest reasons: it may need to be routed outside the normal schedule, and a system that has reached emergency condition takes materially more labour than one cleaned on interval. Both are stated in the quote before work starts.
